Upgrade to the new Modena and save energy and money with our Boiler Replacement Guides

Whilst Energy Minister Ed Davey probes the prices and profits of British Gas, consumers can guarantee themselves a result on reducing fuel costs by upgrading to an A rated boiler.

Recent figures from the Energy Saving Trust show that replacing an old D-rated appliance with a new energy efficient condensing combi boiler saves even more than was thought, up to £160 on a typical fuel bill rather than the £105 estimated last year.

The Modena HE range of boilers is an ideal boiler to choose, not only because it’s highly energy efficient, it’s also very affordably priced which delivers a saving before it’s even been installed!

We’ve added three more Boiler Replacement Guides to our Documents page which give clear instructions on how to upgrade to the new Modena from our older models the Optimax HE, Optimax 25c and Maxima.

As with the guide to replacing the Modena 80-102 models, the new Modena is also compatible in many ways with these three older boilers, making installation a straightforward job.

Ferroli sponsors Burton Albion FC’s first winning match of 2014

As keen supporters of Burton Albion FC, everyone at Ferroli was especially proud when the Brewers won their match against Cheltenham Town on Saturday 11 January at the Pirelli Stadium.

They kept us in suspense until five minutes from the end, but it was worth the wait when Dominic Knowles made it 2-1 to close the first match that had been entirely sponsored by Ferroli.

With Burton Albion currently sitting almost at the top spot of Football League 2, we believe we are backing true winners and are looking forward to supporting the team in their quest to take the title at the end of the season.

As match sponsor, it was our privilege to choose the man of match and that honour went to Dominic Knowles, who scored both goals. Pictured here is Ferroli’s Andy Dimond presenting Dominic with a much deserved bottle of champagne.

Same great boilers, even better branding

It’s a jungle out there in the competitive boiler market so we’ve brought in a leopard to lead the way for us in 2014.

To reflect the innovative design of our boilers and heating appliances we have refreshed our branding with a stunning new identity that features a magnificent leaping leopard with a flaming body and a flaming 7 to promote our Modena 7 year warranty campaign. The space age Ferroli Girl identity, which placed us very firmly in the present and opened up the future, has now been retired and new marketing collateral is being produced.

If you are a merchant or installer and you would like to add the Ferroli logo to your website please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Don’t let a frozen condensate pipe spoil your Christmas

Snowy Scene with heated homesWill it be a white Christmas? If it is, one aspect that won’t make the holiday period so magical will be a broken down boiler because of a frozen condensate pipe. This is one of the most common reasons for condensing boilers to suffer a winter breakdown, so it’s worth making the effort now to insulate the pipe and avoid the misery of being left without heat and hot water when you should be enjoying yourself.

The condensate pipe carries condensation from the boiler to an outside drain. When temperatures plummet this moisture can freeze and block the pipe, causing the condensate to back up and the boiler to shut down. The signs that your pipe is frozen are either a fault code or warning light on the boiler’s display or a gurgling noise coming from the boiler or pipe.

To minimise the chances of this happening, it’s a simple job to buy foam lagging material from hardware or DIY stores and fit it around the pipe. Even if you’re not the DIY type, you’ll be glad you made the effort when it’s icy cold outside. Alternatively, get a handyman to do it for you; it’s a straightforward job.

If it’s too late and the pipe has already frozen, you can defrost it by pouring warm water over it until it thaws. DON’T try to speed up the process by using hot or boiling water as this could crack the pipes and then the situation is a whole lot worse. When it’s defrosted keep the pipe protected by wrapping an old towel around it until you can get it properly lagged.

Restarting the boiler should see it come back to life but if it doesn’t or you are in any doubt, contact a Gas Safe Registered engineer for help. Other than fitting the lagging or defrosting with warm water, never attempt to fix a gas boiler yourself.
